Dr. O'Sullivan is a Clinical Professor and the Program Director for the University of Iowa DNP Program in Nurse Anesthesia. He received a PhD in Health Policy focusing on Health Economics from the University of Iowa College of Public Health in 2008. His research focuses on improving perioperative patient outcomes. He strongly believes multidisciplinary simulation should be a routine part of professional practice at all healthcare facilities to improve patient care. He developed a mobile simulation program which educates providers throughout the state of Iowa on the management of low frequency, high-risk healthcare crisis events which won a 2025 Edge Runner award from the American Academy of Nursing. He has practiced anesthesia at University of Iowa Healthcare since 1996. He loves all Hawkeye and Chicago sports teams. GO HAWKS.
