Louisa obtained her Master of Science in Nursing Anesthesia from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Upon graduation from Northeastern in 2015, Louisa returned home to Augusta, GA, and she has been a practicing CRNA in the Augusta area since that time.
Driven by the desire to expand her career to include teaching and research, Louisa pursued her doctorate and graduated in August of 2022 from Augusta University’s PhD in Nursing Science program. Her doctoral studies included courses at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York, and her dissertation topic was workplace incivility in the operating room.
Louisa has been teaching full-time as an Assistant Professor in the Nursing Anesthesia Program at Augusta University since September 2022. Clinically, she practices PRN at Piedmont Augusta, and she greatly enjoys vascular anesthesia. On a personal note, Louisa has been sober and in long-term recovery from substance use disorder since May 10, 2007. She is extremely passionate about substance use disorder and stigma among all healthcare professionals, especially nurse anesthesiologists.
