Susan P. McMullan, PhD, CRNA, CNE, CHSE, FAANA, FAAN has practiced nurse anesthesia for more than 30 years. She currently serves as an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Nurse Anesthesia Program at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Nursing. She is Professor Emerita and a retired tenured full professor from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing, where she directed the Nurse Anesthesia Program for a decade. Dr. McMullan also served six years on the Board of Directors of the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). In 2023, she was honored as the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) Helen Lamb Outstanding Educator of the Year. She is the founder and owner of Next Achievement Anesthesia LLC, a consulting practice dedicated to advancing nurse anesthesia education and academic excellence.
